Ketamine IV Infusion Therapy
Medically supervised IV ketamine for depression, anxiety and chronic pain
At Columbia Ketamine Center, our focus is ketamine given by IV in a modern, well-equipped clinic. The aim is quick relief for people whose conditions have not improved with standard care. Ketamine acts on NMDA receptors in the brain. This action helps reset neural pathways, and many patients find their symptoms ease far sooner than they would with typical medications.

Why Consider IV Ketamine for Pain?
Research shows ketamine can bring clinically meaningful relief from nerve pain. You get pain relief while the infusion is running, but there is little data on how long that relief lasts afterward. Several studies link longer treatment courses with longer stretches of relief. Even so, experts have not agreed on one best treatment plan. Some centers require ten 4-hour infusions spread across two weeks. Because that plan is costly and takes a great deal of time, we suggest beginning with 4-hour infusions on four days in a row. From there, we decide whether you need more infusions based on how you respond.
What Your Treatment Looks Like
Your first step is a free consultation with Dr. Bowen, either in person or by phone. After that, we usually recommend six one-hour IV infusions completed within two weeks. Each one takes place in a private, quiet room where you are monitored the whole time. Most people describe feeling calm, if a little unusual, during the infusion. Clear thinking typically comes back 20 to 30 minutes afterward. Coordination and the ability to drive can take longer to return, so you will need a driver or a rideshare to get home.
How We Keep You Safe
Our medical team watches over every infusion closely. Rooms are kept comfortable, with soft lighting and calming music if you would like it. Financing through Advance Care can help cover the cost of treatment.
Pricing
Infusions for depression and anxiety cost $400 each. Pain treatment is $850 per four-hour infusion session.
Treating Depression
Studies show ketamine can quickly ease symptoms of postpartum depression, major depressive disorder and other depression that has not responded to treatment. Many people notice a real change within hours of the first infusion.
Treating PTSD
If post-traumatic stress disorder still affects your life after therapy or medication, ketamine may be another option to consider. It works on the brain’s glutamate system and helps reset emotional pathways shaped by trauma, and relief often comes within hours. Our PTSD protocols are tailored to each patient, with the goal of easing flashbacks, anxiety and hypervigilance and bringing back emotional balance.
Treating Pain and CRPS
Ketamine has a distinct ability to calm central sensitization, which may help people living with CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) or other chronic pain feel more comfortable. We customize each pain protocol with lasting relief and a better quality of life in mind.
