Ketamine for Nerve Pain, Neuropathy & CRPS

IV Ketamine for Chronic Nerve Pain

Columbia Ketamine Center provides IV ketamine infusion therapy for people with severe, long-lasting nerve pain, such as sciatica, peripheral neuropathy and Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS). In most cases we start with a 4-hour infusion each day for four days in a row, then check how you are doing. If each session brings more improvement, we keep going with daily 4-hour infusions until the gains level off. Most people need between five and eight infusions. To help the results last, we then prescribe ketamine to take at home each day. How long the benefit lasts differs widely from one person to the next. When patients come back as soon as their pain starts to return or worsen, one infusion is usually enough to bring them back to the level of improvement they reached during the first series.

How Ketamine Treats CRPS and Long-Term Pain

If your chronic pain has not improved with standard care, ketamine takes a different approach from most treatments you have probably tried. Instead of masking symptoms, it acts on the receptors behind pain sensitization and the nerve signal amplification that keeps your nervous system locked in an ongoing pain cycle.

IV Ketamine for Chronic Migraines

Chronic migraine means having headaches on 15 or more days each month, and it can make everyday life very hard. Many people try one medication after another with little success. Studies suggest ketamine, especially when given by IV, may help people who have not gotten relief from standard migraine treatments.

As a modulator of the central nervous system, ketamine calms overactive pain pathways and lowers the inflammation linked to the start of a migraine. It may work especially well when migraines come with central sensitization or with medication overuse headaches.

Benefits some patients have reported include:

  • Fewer migraine days each month
  • Attacks that are shorter and less intense
  • Less need for oral medications
  • Clearer thinking and more energy

We will review your migraine history and build an infusion protocol designed to break the cycle and help prevent future attacks.

What Pain and Migraine Infusions Involve

Infusions for chronic pain or migraine usually last longer than other infusions, and early sessions can run as long as four hours. They may be given over several days in a row to help reset how your body responds to pain. We watch your vitals and your response closely throughout each session to keep you safe and comfortable.

Pricing and Payment Options

Each four-hour pain infusion session is $850. You can use flexible financing through Advance Care and CareCredit. When pain keeps you from enjoying life or handling daily tasks, ketamine may be a new option worth exploring.
